Our Design Philosophy

We approach every wedding as a blank canvas. Our styling process begins with deep listening — understanding not just what you want your wedding to look like, but how you want it to feel. From there, we develop a design language that runs consistently through every element: florals, linens, lighting, stationery, signage, and installation.

Our director Nancy Zhao studied Urban Horticulture and Landscape Architecture before completing advanced floristry training in Korea. This unique background means our styling work has a rare depth — rooted in an understanding of form, proportion, texture, and how natural materials behave in different environments. The result is styling that feels elevated, organic, and completely cohesive.

Wedding Styles We Love

  • Romantic & floral — lush installations, garden-inspired tablescapes, trailing florals
  • Modern minimalist — clean lines, architectural arrangements, monochromatic palettes
  • Luxe & opulent — chandelier florals, dramatic arches, rich colour palettes
  • Rustic & organic — native botanicals, textured linens, earthy tones
  • Contemporary Asian fusion — blending traditional Chinese wedding elements with modern Melbourne style

Award-Winning Wedding Styling in Melbourne

The 8th Day Studio was recognised with a Silver Gilt Award at the 2023 Melbourne International Garden and Flower Show — a testament to our commitment to design excellence and botanical artistry. Our work has been featured across Melbourne’s premier wedding venues including Stones of the Yarra Valley, Montsalvat, The George Ballroom, and the State Library of Victoria.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a wedding stylist do?

A wedding stylist designs the visual look and feel of your wedding — including florals, furniture, linen, lighting, signage, stationery, and installations. At The 8th Day Studio, we develop a cohesive design concept from your initial consultation through to on-site setup and pack-down on your wedding day.

What’s the difference between partial and full styling?

Partial styling provides a personalised moodboard and professional on-site setup — ideal for couples who have a clear vision and just need expert execution. Full styling is a comprehensive, end-to-end design service covering concept development, custom stationery, vendor coordination, and complete installation of both ceremony and reception spaces.

Do you style both the ceremony and reception?

Yes. Our full styling package covers both ceremony and reception spaces, including the transition between the two. We often design ceremony pieces with adaptability in mind so they can be relocated and repurposed for your reception.

How early should I book a wedding stylist in Melbourne?

We recommend booking 8–12 months in advance, especially for spring and autumn dates. Popular weekends fill quickly — the sooner you reach out, the more time we have together for a thorough, relaxed design process.
