Wedding Flowers Melbourne | Bespoke Floral Design | The 8th Day Studio

Award-winning wedding flowers in Melbourne — bespoke floral designs that bring your vision to life

Melbourne’s Botanical Wedding Florists

The 8th Day Studio is an award-winning Melbourne wedding florist specialising in bespoke wedding flowers for weddings and events. Founded by Nancy Zhao — who holds Master’s degrees in Urban Horticulture and Landscape Architecture and completed advanced floristry training in Korea — our studio brings a rare combination of formal horticultural knowledge and artistic floristry to every wedding we design for.

We approach wedding flowers as an art form: creating arrangements that feel deeply personal, visually stunning, and entirely unique to you and your celebration.

Our Wedding Floral Services

  • Bridal bouquets — bespoke, hand-tied designs in your chosen palette and style
  • Bridesmaid bouquets & buttonholes — cohesive arrangements for your entire bridal party
  • Ceremony florals — arches, columns, altar arrangements, aisle styling
  • Reception flowers — centrepieces, table runners, bud vases, and statement installations
  • Hanging & suspended installations — ceiling florals, chandeliers, and canopy arrangements
  • Floral arches & backdrops — ceremony and photo opportunity backdrops
  • Cake flowers — fresh florals to complement your wedding cake
  • Corporate & event flowers — bespoke installations for brand events and activations

What to Expect: Our Floral Design Process

Every wedding flowers journey begins with a detailed consultation. We start by understanding your vision, your venue, your colour palette, and your budget. From there, we develop a mood board and floral concept that ties every element together — from your bouquet to your reception centrepieces — and present a digital design proposal so you can see your wedding come to life before the day arrives.

Wedding Flower Trends in Melbourne 2025–2026

  • Organic, garden-gathered arrangements — loose, textural designs with seasonal blooms and foliage
  • Monochromatic white and cream — timeless, elegant, and incredibly photogenic
  • Dahlia-forward designs — bold, lush, and increasingly popular for Melbourne spring and autumn weddings
  • Dried & pampas installations — sustainable, long-lasting, and beautifully textured
  • Tropical & exotic — birds of paradise, anthuriums, and statement greenery for a dramatic look
  • Elevated native botanicals — celebrating Australian flora with a luxury styling lens

Award-Winning Floral Design

The 8th Day Studio received a Silver Gilt Award at the 2023 Melbourne International Garden and Flower Show, recognising our commitment to innovative, high-quality wedding flowers. Our team has created floral installations for weddings at Stones of the Yarra Valley, The George Ballroom, Montsalvat, Campbell Point House, the State Library of Victoria, and many more of Melbourne’s most celebrated venues.

We’ve also created commercial floral installations and brand activations for leading Australian brands including Bellamy’s Organic, Viktoria Woods, Chaumet, and Swisse.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book wedding flowers in Melbourne?

We recommend booking your wedding florist 9–12 months in advance, especially for popular spring and autumn dates. Popular weekends book out quickly, so the sooner you reach out, the better.

Can you work within a specific budget?

Absolutely. We work with couples across a wide range of budgets and will always be transparent about what’s achievable within yours. During your consultation, we’ll discuss priorities and suggest where to invest for maximum visual impact.

Do you offer flowers-only packages?

Yes — our Event Flowers package covers wedding flowers only and is ideal for couples who have their planning and styling sorted but want expert, bespoke floral design. We can also combine flowers with full styling or planning services.

Do you use Australian native flowers?

Yes — elevated native botanicals are one of our most requested styles. We love working with proteas, banksias, waratahs, and other Australian natives, often combining them with seasonal blooms for a design that’s both locally grounded and visually striking.

Can ceremony flowers be reused at the reception?

In most cases, yes. We often design ceremony pieces with adaptability in mind so they can be relocated to your reception — maximising both impact and value.
